Behavior Management

Our class will use class dojo. Students will get points for various things they do in the classroom, at lunch, specials and in the hallway. As positive reinforcement the students will receive points for participation, being on task, compliments, drills, team work,  Helping others, persistence, working hard.  Students can earn  points individually as well as whole class and as a table.

Each point is worth one penny. At the end of the month, students will receive fake money that they will keep at their seat in a bag. Students will learn how to count their money and trade coins with the banker (Miss Keys) each month.  At the end of the quarter students will turn in  their fake money for Kite cash. As a class we will have spoken about currency. Students have learned that Miss keys currency is worth less than the schools currency. Kite cash is worth double of our class money. Each class dollar the student turns in they will receive 2 kite cash.

Each Friday we will have fun Friday students will be able to play a game or go on the computer for the last 20 minutes of class. The students with the most amount of dojo points for that week will be able to choose their activity 1st and Began playing their activities 5 minutes earlier than the other class members.

In our class we focus on positive reinforcement. With that being said students can loose points but my goal is for that to be rare. If a student does not follow an expectation or is consistently off task that student will loose a dojo point. The consequence of loosing dojo points depends on the severity of the behavior. Some of the consequences for losing dojo points will be 5 minutes walking around the track. Timeout think time where they will write a letter to their parents about what class expectation they broke and how they can fix their behavior.  Loss of minutes from fun Friday.
